Together, let's maintain the excitement for learning, creating a bright future for your kids. Theme: Winter Season/Christmas Winter is like a big party! Our little ones are incredibly excited, even when it's cold outside. We kicked off our discussions about the 'Winter Season / Christmas,' turning our time together into a delightful and educational experience. During our talks, we explored what makes winter cool, ways to stay warm, and the types of clothing people wear in winter. We also delved into the realm of delicious winter fruits and veggies, with the kids enthusiastically sharing their favourites. Christmas words were also on our agenda, along with discussions about how people celebrate Christmas and New Year. The kids had plenty to say and eagerly shared their holiday traditions. Winter isn't just about staying warm; it's also about having fun and learning together. Our little ones are thoroughly enjoying themselves, making this theme an exciting and integral part of our learning journey. Verbal Linguistic Intelligence Listening and learning go hand in hand. Our little ones have developed patience and become quite vocal in expressing their views on various topics. They delighted in reciting theme-related rhymes such as 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' and 'Dashing Through the Snow.' Emphasis was placed on the identification of the letters 'Tt,' 'Uu,' and 'Vv' through jolly phonics songs, accompanied by naming words that begin with these sounds. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to stories like 'The Grasshopper and the Ant' and 'Getting Ready for Winter.' These stories serve as wonderful tools for instilling ethics and values among the children. In addition, social etiquettes such as positive communication, taking turns, speaking politely, and not interrupting when two people are talking were actively practiced and reinforced in the class. Drama Dramatic play is a form of play where children take on various roles and act them out. In this activity, they go beyond their normal selves and pretend to be someone or something else, dramatizing situations and emotions for the characters they've chosen. To cultivate these skills, they learned the basic techniques of delivering dialogues along with the necessary expressions. Additionally, they are taught the appropriate way to enter and exit the stage during performances. Logical/Mathematical Intelligence Logical/Mathematical intelligence involves being adept at finding patterns, thinking logically, and figuring things out. Our little ones were enthusiastic about exploring different patterns such as hopping, standing, and sleeping wavy lines. They had fun tracing and practicing pages in their workbooks. Additionally, we introduced them to the colour 'White,' and it was a cool experience as they identified white things like cotton, radish, snow, and teeth. They did a great job remembering numbers from 1 to 7 and even learned about number 8. We also covered counting from 1 to 20 to enhance their understanding of numbers. It's been a delightful time of exploring patterns, numbers, and colors, all while using our smart thinking! Visual Spatial Intelligence Visual spatial intelligence means being really good at imagining and picturing things in your mind – like where objects are, their shapes, and how they relate to each other. Our children had a blast doing fun activities that let them use this special skill. They made a ‘spider craft’ integrated with number 8, ‘under water craft’ related to letter u 'Santa Claus Puppets' and crafted their own 'Christmas Trees.' It was so wonderful to see their faces light up as they created beautiful things all by themselves. Naturalistic Intelligence The teacher discussed with the children the importance of taking care of themselves, sharing, and caring for others. They explained that the world is like one big family, emphasizing the significance of living together with love and affection. Following this discussion, the children played a game of passing the ball, having fun together while learning important lessons about getting along with others. Musical Intelligence "Singing chases away worries." – Miguel De Cervantes Music is a special kind of magic that nurtures our minds and boosts students' confidence. It's not just for fun; it's a significant part of our lives. Even exceptionally intelligent individuals like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Einstein had a deep love for music. When we integrate learning and music, it enhances students' memory retention, concentration, and overall performance in school. Indian Music Indian classical music is a special way to connect with our Indian culture, helping students communicate better and express their feelings. 'Sangeet for All' is an excellent music program that introduces kids to music in an engaging manner. This month, the teacher taught the children some enjoyable songs and activities:
Western Music Kids, accompanied by the teacher, joyfully sang the lively and much-loved Christmas carol, 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.' Their enthusiasm to learn the words of the song was evident. Dance "Dance is the hidden language of the soul." Dancing is more than just moving around; it's like a secret language that speaks to our hearts. Regular dance lessons contribute to kids' overall health and well-being, fostering a sense of joy. These lessons also help children make new friends, improve communication skills, and collaborate as a team—building trust and cooperation in a fun and engaging way. This December, the excitement was palpable for Grandparents' Day. The kids had a fantastic time learning dance steps to a special song, ‘मेरी दुनिया.’ Their energetic and joyful participation during the sessions was hard to miss. Pottery Playing with clay is a fantastic way for kids to use their hands and improve their motor skills by enhancing control over their fingers. This month, the children had a blast creating standing and sleeping wavy lines, as well as different shapes like circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles with clay. They also crafted some other cool things. Montessori In the Montessori environment, practical life activities are the initial introductions for children. In October, the children engaged in the following activities:
Bodily Kinaesthetic Intelligence Playing is a cool way for kids to understand how awesome their bodies are and stay healthy. Together with the teacher, the kids engaged in different exercises that are beneficial for them, helping them learn how to move and stay focused while having fun. Here are some activities the kids participated in: · They used a ball for exercises, such as dragging it with a hula hoop and doing a hamster roll. · They engaged in hands-on exercises using hula hoops. Interpersonal Intelligence Birthday celebration- Show & Tell Our little ones absolutely love being part of birthday celebrations! In December, all the Pre-Nursery children who were born had their own special celebration. The theme for this celebration was the 'Winter season'. The children had the opportunity to showcase their speaking skills through a 'Show & Tell' activity. They were super excited to share their lines and even had props ready. Additionally, the children discussed basic manners on how to behave at a party. It was a happy celebration of birthdays and a truly enjoyable time of sharing and learning together! Events and Celebrations SPECIAL ASSEMBLY Guru Nanak Jayanti - Nur C The students of Nursery C came together to celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti in a special assembly that commenced with an enchanting dance performance to the soulful track 'Aar Nanak Par Nanak'. Following this captivating dance, each child took the stage to share a few lines about Guru Nanak Devji and his invaluable teachings. Despite their tender age, the students displayed remarkable confidence as they spoke about the life, philosophy, and teachings of Guru Nanak Devji. UPHAAR 'Discover the Joy of Giving and you will discover the reason for living.' As part of the Project Uphaar initiative at Suncity, the little ones were encouraged to participate in a 'Blanket Donation Drive' to help those in need during these chilly winters. Suncitizens believe in learning by doing, and through these small initiatives, the universal values of kindness and compassion were instilled in the children, contributing to making the world a better place. PUPPET SHOW A captivating puppet show was organized by our school on December 15, 2023, for students of Grades Pre-nursery to II. The show was presented by Ms. Shreedevi Sunil from Talking Turtles Storytellers, with support from the Prabha Khaitan Foundation and Muskaan – Steps to Culture. The aim of the show was to spark imagination and create lasting memories for our young learners through enchanting storylines, colourful characters, and interactive elements. The hall resonated with laughter, applause, and a magical atmosphere as our esteemed storyteller narrated three different stories: 'Three Little Pigs,' 'The Gingerbread Man,' and the story of the 'Christmas Tree,' using hand gestures, voice modulation, and professionally crafted puppets. In conclusion, a puppet show in school is not merely a performance; it's a holistic learning experience that nurtures creativity, imagination, and concentration skills. Such events create lasting memories for both the audience, fostering a positive and dynamic educational environment. GRANDPARENTS DAY “What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humour, comfort, lessons in life and most importantly, cookies.” - Rudy Giuliani The Kindergarten students at Suncity School 37D celebrated Grandparents’ Day with great enthusiasm on December 28, 2023. The day kicked off with a special dance performance by our Pre-Nursery kids for the grandparents, followed by a ramp walk organized exclusively for them. Various physical drills were planned, and all the grandparents enthusiastically participated, enjoying games with their grandchildren, and sharing heartwarming stories. Our honourable Principal, Ms. Guneet Ohri, and Academic Head, Ms. Bhawna Singh, extended their gratitude to the grandparents for their presence and the vital role they play in the lives of the children. The day concluded with students presenting their craft creations to their grandparents, showcasing beautiful pieces of art. Overall, it was a delight to witness the grandparents and children enjoying their time together. LEAP
