Dear Parent(s), Greetings! “The best way to make children good is to make them happy” ~ Oscar Wilde We're convinced that play enables children to practice what they learn. That's why our activities are crafted to facilitate fun learning and exploration. Now, let's peek into the exciting month of August. Theme- Rainy Season The rhyme "I hear thunder" was a perfect fit for the month's theme, engaging the children in real-time. They enjoyed reciting "Rain, rain, go away," 'It's raining, it's pouring,' and 5 little raindrops. Additionally, they learned about rain protection and seasonal insects during a nature walk. Discussions also centered around environmental care. The children explored the butterfly life cycle through a video, and nurturing saplings/seeds taught them about growth. Verbal linguistic Children acquired knowledge by assimilating information during their daily interactions and experiences. A notable accomplishment among our young learners has been their ability to actively listen and provide focused attention to speakers. They have reached milestones like self-introductions, responding to morning greetings, reciting rhymes and prayers, and displaying increased engagement during simple question-and-answer sessions. Furthermore, children have successfully mastered phonics sounds and words associated with the letters 'Hh - Jj'. They have also reinforced their understanding of letters from 'Aa to Gg' through a variety of mediums, including audio-visual aids, stories, concrete objects, and practice materials. During the learning process, children have enthusiastically participated in diverse and enjoyable activities aimed at enhancing their grasp of letters. An example of such an activity includes using earbuds for creative printing exercises. Logical/Mathematical Our little ones are improving their understanding of the meaning of things. They are becoming adept at comprehending ideas, making sense of their surroundings, and retaining information. Some of the kids are even becoming quite skilled at making logical guesses about what might happen based on their learning experiences. Additionally, they have learned about the number 4 and its connections to various objects. They used examples such as leaves crayons, pencils, flashcards, worksheets, and fingers to illustrate this concept. They have also practiced tracing a zigzag pattern and recognizing the shape of a triangle. Naturalistic The nice and breezy weather gave the kids a great chance to go outside and become more aware of keeping our surroundings and water bodies clean. They also had the opportunity to observe insects like butterflies, ladybugs, and dragonflies flying around. The kids even created beautiful butterflies by using leaf prints. Furthermore, they learned how to care for plants by planting seeds and watched them grow into little plants. Visual Spatial Sorry for the mess, the kids are making memories.” Our little ones are really good at using their imaginations. They have made plant craft, created butterflies using leaves, jelly fish craft using pipe cleaner and decorated their rakhi for the Raksha Bandhan festival. They were great at everything they did. The artworks they made with their own hands were a delight for us to see. Musical Intelligence ‘Words make you think. Music makes you feel. A song makes you feel a thought.’ Indian Music Children love music because it holds the power to express and bring a sense of joy into their lives. During this month, children practiced ‘Sangeet for all’ activities, and sang the ‘Shaker song’ and the Sa Re Ga Ma body game along with the Educator. Western Music In western music session children practiced singing the song, ‘We shall overcome’, to the tune of a piano. Bodily Kinesthetic Intelligence Physical Movement and Learning When kids learn by moving, they do tasks again and again, which helps them remember how to do them. This also makes their muscles remember. Moving around gives them more energy and helps them pay better attention. It even makes them better at thinking and solving problems. And guess what? It boosts their confidence too! To help kids get good at all these things and control their bodies, they enhanced their locomotive skills by throwing up the colourful beanbags and catching them. They also practiced attempting the drill for Bodily Kinesthetic Event. Interpersonal Birthday Celebration We had a special activity called 'Show and Tell' focused on the theme of the rainy season. The kids learned about how to greet others politely and take turns when sharing. We also talked about how to behave at a birthday party. We do this regularly to help improve their social skills. After that, the children were encouraged to say a few sentences about the theme. They were enthusiastic to share their lines and show their creative props. Storytelling Stories help in achieving awareness and at the same time improve emotional intelligence. While listening and understanding the stories, children subconsciously develop the ability to think for others. This feeling of correlating and concerning for others, makes one a better individual. During the month, children enjoyed listening to the stories, ‘The Enormous Turnip’, ‘The Princess and the Pea’ followed by their respective worksheet activities to enhance multiple skills amongst them. Montessori In the Montessori setting, the first things kids learn are practical life activities. These activities help kids with four important things: being organized, moving well, doing things on their own, and focusing. The children worked on these activities, like folding a handkerchief, using a spoon, pouring liquids, and using a spindle box, to become more confident in doing things by themselves. Drama During early childhood, drama doesn't require memorizing lines, copying behaviors, or even having an audience. Kids can already tell right from wrong at their age if they're taken care of and guided properly. With this goal in mind, we told stories like 'A birthday on the bus' and ‘The Enormous Turnip' with the right expressions and changes in our voices. Dance Dancing brings lots of fun, laughter, and happiness. Children made their bodies stronger by dancing to the tunes of songs like ‘ऐसा देश है मेरा’ and ‘रक्षा बंधन’. Pottery Kids had fun working with clay using their hands and eyes. They felt things like hot, cold, smooth, rough, hard, soft, slippery, and sticky. They saw things like dull, shiny, and smooth. The children showed their imagination by making shapes like rectangles, squares, and circles. They create impression of their hand with the teacher's assistance. To practice the letter 'Jj', the kids had a great time creating a jug. Imaginarium Exploring a supermarket offers a blend of learning and fun for children. They get to observe and choose items they want, which helps with decision-making. Walking through different aisles, they learn about various products, their names, and their uses. Kids also practice counting and understanding money as they shop with their parents. The supermarket becomes a place of adventure and learning, enhancing their everyday experiences. EYP Play Area The play area is like an open book that helps teachers create a space where kids can grow and develop in the best possible way. Play allows children to learn about the world, communicate, imagine, and handle new situations. It's a place where they explore, discover, and create all while having a lot of fun. Splash Pool Water play is an inevitable part of the preschool curriculum as it helps in gross motor development while splashing, eye-hand coordination, and vocabulary development. The little ones in Nursery had a wonderful time during their water play activity. Event and celebrations Independence Day "Freedom is priceless; it's like the air we breathe. What wouldn't someone do to live freely?" Suncitizens celebrated India's 77th Independence Day with great respect and deep patriotism. Kids joined in the flag-raising ceremony and stood tall while the National Anthem played. Wearing their national symbols, they proudly greeted the guest of honour as he walked through the Early Years Play wing. Our young citizens learned about national symbols and had fun crafting a tricolour drum. Bodily Kinesthetic Event On this National Sports Day, may your passion for your sport continue to shine as a beacon of dedication and perseverance. On this Athletic occasion, Elementary years’ students celebrated the #Bodily Kinesthetic Event 2023 with great fun, vigour and enthusiasm. Bodily kinesthetic intelligence is most widely used in everyday routine, from the time we wake up to every single time we move. Therefore, it is very important to strengthen this intelligence through various activities to enhance sensori-motor development and cognition. The tiny tots of EYP participated in this event and performed the ‘Plank relay with bean bags.’ The vibe was filled with cheering, hooting, and motivating our friends. KG D - Raksha Bandhan Assembly The young Suncitizens of KG D conducted the Rakshabandhan assembly on August 22, 2023. The event exuded happiness and warmth, charmingly portraying the precious bond between siblings through an endearing skit. With innocent gestures and heartfelt dialogues, the skit touched the audience hearts. Following the skit, the students shared their insights into the significance of Rakshabandhan. They expressed how brothers promise to shield their sisters, similar to how Lord Krishna protected Draupadi in her time of need. Sisters, in return, tie Rakhi around their brothers symbolizing trust and affection. The assembly reached its emotional peak as the children joyfully danced to the melodies of songs like ‘बहना ने भाई की कलाई ;फूलो का तारो का’. Their performances added a heartwarming touch to the event, creating a memorable and cherished moment for everyone present. LEAP
Think beyond the magic and get beyond the imagination! To unleash the creativity of our children we conduct LEAP activities each month wherein children perform various brainstorming tasks to enhance their higher- order thinking skills and ingenuity to be future-ready. Below are the activities performed by the students this month:

Greetings! “Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning.” ~ William Arthur Ward Children are born with curiosity, and to encourage this curiosity in their learning process, we need to take significant steps to lay the foundation for their fruitful educational journey. Therefore, at Suncity, we believe that it is important to arouse curiosity in our little ones so that the learning never ceases. That is the very reason why our activities are designed to make children eager to know what is coming next. Let's take a sneak peek into the joyous month of July. Theme-Summer Season The school premises echoed with the jolly voices of our little ones as they returned after a long summer break. Summer, the hottest season of the year, proved to be an exciting and entertaining time for our kids as they got a chance to enjoy 'Water Play.' During this season, the children discovered that midday sun rays are scorching hot. Children were briefed about the availability of summer season fruits like mangoes, plums, litchee, muskmelon, watermelon, cherries etc. in abundance. To cope with the heat, they learned the following tips: ·Wear comfortable cotton clothes, sunglasses, and a hat to protect themselves from the heat. · Consume cool foods and drinks to stay refreshed. · Conserve water and electricity to be mindful of resources. · Play an active role in reducing the summer heat by planting more trees in our neighborhoods and watering them regularly. Verbal Linguistic Early language acquisition is a natural instinct for most children, but as adults, our responses to their attempts to communicate can significantly influence their language development, either speeding it up or slowing it down. To ensure positive progress, we engage with them using complete sentences and speak in gentle tones. We actively involve them in various activities during Quality Circle Time, encouraging them to express themselves. During these sessions, the children practiced phonics songs and explored words associated with letters from 'Aa' to 'Gg,' utilizing the methods mentioned above. Additionally, we enriched their language skills by reciting theme-related rhymes such as 'Summertime,' 'Garmi Aayi, ' 'Wind the Bobbin Up,' 'Mr. Sun,' and 'The Little Rain Drop.' These captivating stories were narrated throughout the month. To further enhance their vocabulary, we utilized audiovisual aids, stories, real objects, and practice sheets. All these efforts fostered a comprehensive and enjoyable language learning experience for the children. Logical/Mathematical ‘The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics. Mathematics gives us hope, that every problem has a solution.’ Children made an effort to solve problems as they played and interacted with the people and objects around them. They not only acquired knowledge about their body, but also got acquainted with the concepts like tall and short, shapes, numbers, and their quantification up to number 3. Naturalistic Our young caregivers were taught the significance of maintaining a clean environment. They imbibed the responsibility of caring for birds and animals by providing them water during the summer. Additionally, they grasped the value of conserving water through an engaging clay modeling class where they created a waterdrop symbol. Our adventurous learners thoroughly enjoyed taking nature walks, to the vegetable garden during the vibrant summer season. They delighted in observing the fresh summer vegetables, understanding their importance in supporting growth. Taking charge of watering the school garden plants filled them with joy and satisfaction. Musical Intelligence Music is a form of communication that transcends languages. Our children practiced musical stories and voice intonation through English and Hindi songs. The children strengthened their dancing skills by dancing on the song, ‘ऐसा देश है मेरा’. Waterplay Splash, pop! Water play is a unique activity for children which aids in extended learning. It takes more muscle strength to move arms and legs through water than it does through air. The children strengthened their muscle coordination and gained confidence to enter a water body. They were apprised of the essentials related to hygiene and safety and discovered the concept of force by playing around pop-up fountains and strengthened the bond with their friends. Imaginarium Children visited the ‘Imaginarium’ for expanding their horizons of imagination in different corners like supermarket, Lego table, block corner etc. They also improved their hand grip and enjoyed playing the game, ‘Sorting of Summer Fruits and Vegetables’.
